Roots in the bluegrass.

Jonathan Palmer is an experienced Kentucky-based photojournalist with a passion for telling people's stories. He has traveled to Africa to document a UK medical student raising awareness of AIDS, covered the SEC and NCAA basketball tournaments, 11 Kentucky Derby's and has shot weddings and events for more than ten years. Along with shooting still photographs, he is also skilled in shooting, editing and producing short documentary videos using DSLR cameras and the Adobe Creative Cloud.

In 2014, 2011 and 2010 Jonathan was named Sports Photographer of the Year by the Kentucky News Photographer Association. In 2014 and 2009 Jonathan was named KNPA Photographer of the Year Runner-Up and was awarded the Story of the Year award from the Alabama Press Association for a story he and a colleague worked on in the aftermath of a tornado.

Currently he works at Kentucky State University in the Land Grant Program’s Communication department.  He lives in Louisville, Ky. with his wife and daughter.

Jonathan was born and raised in Louisville and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2005 with a B.A. in Studio Art , with a concentration in photography.
